“The most important thing we heard today is that funds are needed for defence. But we are also hearing that huge expenditure amounting to billions of Euros for the highways is being prepared. They are just waiting for the elections to pass, so as to avoid any scandals with the media and with the opposition. They don’t want to harm their presidential candidate. Then they can set out on a mad spending spree through the Highway Infrastructure Agency and through Shishkov, in order to line the pockets of the oligarchs and a circle of companies."
This warning was made by Delyan Peevski, leader of the MRF, in the National Assembly.
"We will submit a proposal for all these billions, which they set aside for lining their pockets, to go towards defence, for Bulgarian citizens, for their security, also for energy compensation, compensation for the high prices of food and to put a stop to spending,” the leader emphasised.
“Didn’t they come to power with the declaration of changing things? So what have they changed?” Mr. Peevski asked rhetorically and revealed:
“They’re preparing annexes to the Hemus Highway construction project with a three-fold increase in prices! Is that what they call a change? What are they changing? What are they changing? They're increasing prices by 300%, and crash barriers by 160%," Delyan Peevski interjected.
