Delyan Peevski, Leader of the MRF and the MRF–NEW BEGINNING Parliamentary Group: People demand justice. MRF–NEW BEGINNING will be the guarantor of a strong and just state

The decision of the Varna Court of Appeal to impose the more lenient measure of “house arrest” on the 19-year-old youth who killed three people in a car crash in Razgrad sends a very bad signal to society. People demand justice, and the topic of the “war on the roads” has not left the news — with all the gravity and drama it brings. Grieving families and mothers are a living wound that cries out for justice.

While all executive and legislative institutions are seeking solutions to this enormous societal problem, it is the judiciary that must deliver that justice. Decisions like this one dishearten the public and undermine trust in the state. Those who allow such outcomes have lost touch with reality and all sensitivity to what scandalizes and alienates citizens.

That is why a swift restoration of the state and its institutions — dismantled and compromised by self-serving magistrates — is necessary. The recovery of the judicial system, as it should function in a strong state, must be carried out decisively and responsibly, so that there is no doubt that all Bulgarian citizens will have access to fair and swift justice, and that no crime will go unpunished.

MRF–NEW BEGINNING will be the guarantor that no issue weakening the state and statehood will be ignored or bypassed by politicians.
