Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) Mustafa Karadayi, member of parliament Delyan Peevski, deputy chair of the 49th National Assembly Filiz Hyusmenova and deputy chairman of the Movement Yordan Tsonev met with Ukrainian president Volodimir Zelensky, who visited Bulgaria.
We were the first political party to condemn Russia's military aggression in Ukraine and which already in the early hours of February 24, 2022, initiated the adoption of a special declaration of the Bulgarian parliament in support of Ukraine, Karadayi told Zelensky.
Now, when the entire democratic world sympathises with Ukraine, it is easy to pile up political wealth by expressing your support. But at that moment almost a year and a half ago, there were many politicians who were hesitant to back Ukraine. Today, some of them prefer not to remember those days, the MRF leader further said.
In contrast, the MRF is consistent, the most consistent party. Always in difficult moments, the Movement points to the right direction for taking a stand, said MP Delyan Peevski.
It was the same 33 years ago, when the founder of the MRF and today's honorary chairman of the Movement, Dr. Ahmed Dogan, declared from the rostrum of the National Assembly that Bulgaria's path is membership in the European Union and NATO, Karadayi reminded.
Speaking to Zelenski, the MRF chairman also expressed his desire to see Ukraine becoming a member of NATO and the European Union as soon as possible. He recalled that the MRF was among the initiators and proponents of today’s declaration of the National Assembly in support of Ukraine’s entry into NATO.
